How to use

This calculator counts the days between two dates, and works out the date a number of days, weeks, months, years or working days before or after another.

Days between two dates

  1. The Start date starts at today. Choose another date, or press Today to go back to it.
  2. Choose the End date. It can be before the start date: the dates are then counted the other way round.
  3. Read the number of days, and underneath it the same in weeks, months and years, and the working days, Monday to Friday.

From one date to the next is one day, so Monday to Friday is 4 days. Turn on Count the end date too to count both dates, as for the days of a holiday or a booking: Monday to Friday is then 5 days.

Add to or take away from a date

  1. Choose the Date to count from.
  2. Choose Add or Take away, type a whole number, and choose days, weeks, months, years or working days.
  3. Read the date, its weekday, and how many days away it is.

A month later keeps the day of the month. When the month is shorter, you get its last day, so a month after 31 January is 28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. Working days step over Saturdays and Sundays, so a working day after a Friday is the Monday.

Public holidays aren't taken out of working days, as they differ by country and region. The dates are your device's calendar dates, without times, so time zones and summer time don't change the count. Nothing you enter leaves this page.

Frequently asked questions

Is the end date counted?

Not unless you turn on Count the end date too. Without it, Monday to Friday is 4 days, as Friday is 4 days after Monday. With it, both dates count, so it is 5 days.

Are public holidays taken out of working days?

No. Working days are Monday to Friday. Holidays differ by country and region, so take away any that fall between your dates yourself.

What is a month after 31 January?

28 February, or 29 February in a leap year. February has no 31st, so the answer is its last day, and the calculator says so when that happens.
