3D Model Viewer

Open STL, OBJ, 3MF, PLY, GLB and glTF models and STEP or IGES CAD files in your browser. Turn, zoom, hide parts and save a picture. No upload.

Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use

This tool opens 3D models and CAD files in your browser and shows them in 3D, without uploading them anywhere.

  1. Add a model: drop it on the box or choose it. It opens STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB and glTF, and STEP, IGES and BREP files from CAD programs.
  2. Some models come in several files. Add an OBJ together with its MTL file and texture pictures, and a glTF file with its .bin file, so colours and textures show.
  3. Drag to turn the model, scroll or pinch to zoom, and right-drag or use two fingers to move it. With the view selected, the arrow keys turn it and plus and minus zoom.
  4. Use Angled, Front, Top and Side to look from a standard direction. The buttons in the corner of the view bring the whole model back into view and make it Full screen; Esc brings it back.
  5. Turn on Edges to outline the shape, or Wireframe to see its triangles. Grid shows the floor, and Dark background helps with light models.
  6. Models with several parts list them under Parts, where you can hide any of them. Click a part in the view to pick it out and see its size.
  7. Measure gives the distance between two points you click, and Cut open shows the inside.
  8. Save picture downloads the view as a PNG.

The details beside the view give the format, the size in the file's own unit and in millimetres, the number of triangles and parts, and the file size. STEP, IGES and BREP files are opened by a CAD reader of about 2 MB, which loads the first time you add one; Detail of curves sets how finely their curved surfaces are drawn.

Frequently asked questions

Which 3D files can it open?

STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, GLB and glTF, and STEP, IGES and BREP from CAD programs. It can't open FBX, Blender files, or GLB files compressed with Draco or meshopt.

Are my models uploaded?

No. Every file is read and drawn in your browser, and nothing you open leaves your device. The CAD reader for STEP and IGES files is downloaded from this site the first time you need it, like the rest of the page.

Why are the colours or textures missing?

STL files have no colours. An OBJ keeps its colours in an MTL file and its textures in separate pictures, so add them together with the OBJ. Textures in TGA or DDS format can't be shown, as browsers don't open them.
