IGES File Viewer
Open IGES and IGS files from any CAD program in your browser: turn, measure and cut through the model, parts in their colours. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use
This page shows an IGES file (.iges or .igs) as a 3D model in your browser, so you can look at a part without the CAD program that made it and without sending the file anywhere.
- Drop the IGES file on the box, or choose it. STEP and BREP files open here as well.
- The CAD reader downloads from this site on the first file, about 2 MB, and then stays ready. A bar shows the progress while the file is read.
- Turn the model by dragging, zoom with the wheel or a pinch, and move it with the right button or two fingers. The view buttons jump to the standard directions.
- Under Parts, every body in the file is listed with its name and colour. Hide the ones in the way to see what's behind them.
- Use Measure to read a distance between two points, and Cut open to slice the model and look inside.
- Curved faces looking rough? Set Detail of curves to Fine. Coarser is faster for big files.
- Save picture gives you a PNG of the current view to drop into an email or a quote.
The details show the size in the file's own unit, the number of parts and triangles, and the file size. A size in millimetres is added when the file uses another unit.
IGES is older than STEP and writes a model as surfaces and curves rather than solids, so a part sometimes arrives as several loose faces or without a name. The viewer shows whatever the file holds; if a face is missing, the file was exported that way.
Frequently asked questions
What is an IGES file?
IGES (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification, .iges or .igs) is a format from the 1980s for passing CAD geometry between programs. Most CAD software still exports it, so it turns up from older suppliers and machines. STEP has largely replaced it for new work.
Can I turn an IGES file into STL or STEP here?
Into STL, OBJ, 3MF or GLB, yes: open it in the 3D model converter, which reads IGES with the same CAD reader and writes those mesh formats. Writing STEP isn't offered.
Why does my IGES model show as surfaces with gaps?
IGES often stores a shape as separate trimmed surfaces instead of one closed solid. Where the exporting program left small gaps or dropped a face, the viewer shows exactly that. Ask for a STEP export if you need a watertight solid.
