Blur and Pixelate Image
Blur or pixelate faces, number plates and text in a photo before you share it, in your browser. Its location is removed too. Nothing is uploaded.
Blur and pixelate hide faces well. For text that must stay secret, such as an address or a card number, use Block: blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be worked out again.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.
How to use
This tool hides parts of a photo, such as faces, number plates, names or addresses, so you can share it safely. It works in your browser, and the photo never leaves your device.
- Add one or more photos: drop them on the box, choose them, or paste a screenshot.
- Drag across the photo to draw a box over what you want hidden. Draw as many as you need. Drag a box to move it, and its corners or edges to resize it. Without a mouse, press Add a box, then use the arrow keys to move it and Shift with the arrow keys to resize it.
- Under Hide with, choose Blur, Pixelate or Block (solid black), and set the Strength. The photo shows the result as you go.
- Choose how to Save as, then press Download. With several photos, choose each one above the photo to add its boxes, then press Download all for a ZIP.
The hidden parts are replaced in the saved picture, not covered by a layer that could be lifted off. The saved photo also leaves out the hidden details a camera or phone adds, such as where it was taken and the date.
Blur and pixelate are good for faces. For text that must stay secret, such as a card number or a password on a screenshot, use Block: blurred or pixelated text can sometimes be worked out again, especially when only a few letters could be there.
Frequently asked questions
Can someone unblur my photo?
Not from the saved file: the hidden pixels are replaced, not covered. A weak blur or large letters can sometimes be guessed back, so use a high strength, or Block for text and numbers.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The photo is opened and changed in your browser, on your device, and saved straight back to it. No server ever sees it.
Does it remove the location from the photo?
Yes. The saved photo has none of the original's hidden details, so the place it was taken, the camera and the date are all gone.
