HEIC to JPG Converter

Convert iPhone HEIC photos to JPG or PNG in your browser, one or many at a time. Keep the date taken if you like, and download them all as a ZIP.

Convert to

Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use

This tool turns HEIC photos, the format iPhones save in, into JPG or PNG files that open everywhere. Nothing is uploaded.

  1. Add photos: drop them on the box or choose them with the button. Up to 50 photos or 500 MB go in at once.
  2. Pick JPG for photos you want to share or print, or PNG if you need every pixel kept exactly. PNG files are much larger.
  3. For JPG, set the Quality. 90 keeps photos looking like the original; lower values make smaller files.
  4. Choose what to keep. Keep the date taken and camera details is on, so photo apps can still sort your pictures by date. Keep the location too is off, so a photo you share doesn't say where it was taken.
  5. Download each photo, or all of them with Download all (.zip).

Photos come out the right way up, with the same colors. iPhones use a wider range of colors than most images, so the tool keeps the photo's color profile.

Safari decodes HEIC itself, and Chrome and Edge use the graphics chip in most computers, so nothing extra is downloaded. Elsewhere, as in Firefox, the tool fetches a HEIC decoder from this site the first time, about half a megabyte. Either way, your photos never leave your device.

Live Photos and bursts give their main picture. Depth and HDR extras are left out.

Frequently asked questions

Which browsers can convert HEIC photos?

Current Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on computers and phones. Safari decodes HEIC itself, and Chrome and Edge use the graphics chip in most computers. Firefox, and computers without that chip, use a HEIC decoder the tool downloads from this site the first time, about half a megabyte. Your photos are never uploaded.

Will my photos lose quality?

At quality 90, JPG photos look the same as the original to almost everyone, and colors stay true because the color profile goes with them. PNG keeps every pixel exactly but makes much larger files. Converting can't add detail the HEIC photo didn't have.

Does it keep the date and location?

It keeps the date taken and the camera details unless you turn that off, so your photo app still sorts the pictures correctly. The location is left out unless you turn on Keep the location too. Nothing about your photos ever leaves your device.
