How to use

This tool converts images between JPG, PNG and WebP, one or many at a time, without uploading them anywhere.

  1. Add images: drop them on the box, choose them with the button, or paste one with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). It opens JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP and SVG, up to 50 images or 500 MB at once.
  2. Pick the format under Convert to:
    • JPG for photos. Every device opens it, but it has no transparency.
    • PNG for screenshots, logos and anything with sharp edges or transparent areas. It keeps every pixel exactly, so files are larger.
    • WebP for websites. It's usually smaller than JPG at the same quality, and it keeps transparency.
  3. For JPG and WebP, set the Quality. 85 is a good balance; lower values make smaller files with more visible flaws.
  4. JPG fills transparent areas with the Background color, white unless you pick another.
  5. Download each image, or all of them at once with Download all (.zip).

Changing the format or quality converts the whole list again, so you can compare sizes. Photos stay the right way up. Animated GIFs and WebPs keep only their first frame, and the tool says so.

Converting can't add detail: a JPG saved as PNG keeps the flaws it already had, it just doesn't add new ones. The new files don't carry over metadata such as the camera or the place a photo was taken.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting lower the quality?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly. JPG and WebP compress, so they lose a little detail; at quality 85 it's hard to see. Converting a JPG to PNG can't bring back detail the JPG already lost.

What happens to transparent areas?

PNG and WebP keep them. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose, white by default.

Can it convert to AVIF or HEIC?

No. It opens AVIF images and saves JPG, PNG or WebP, because browsers can't save AVIF or HEIC from a web page. For iPhone photos, the HEIC to JPG converter turns HEIC into JPG or PNG.
