HEIC to PNG Converter
Convert iPhone HEIC photos to lossless PNG in your browser, for editing without further loss. One or 50 at a time, as a ZIP. Nothing is uploaded.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.
How to use
This page converts HEIC photos from an iPhone or iPad into PNG files inside your browser, with nothing uploaded.
- Drop the HEIC photos on the box, or choose them. Up to 50 at a time, straight from your phone or from a folder you copied them to.
- PNG is already selected, so conversion starts right away. There's no quality setting, because PNG doesn't throw any detail away.
- Decide on the details. The date taken and camera details are kept, so photo apps sort the pictures correctly; the location is left out unless you turn it on.
- Save each PNG, or all of them in one ZIP.
Pick PNG when the photo is going into an editor and will be saved several times, or when a design tool, print service or website asks for PNG. Every pixel your device decodes is kept, along with the photo's colour profile, so colours look as they do on the phone.
The trade-off is size: a 12-megapixel photo as PNG often takes 15 MB or more, several times its HEIC. For sharing and everyday use, the HEIC to JPG converter makes much smaller files that look the same. It works in current Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox, on a computer or a phone.
Frequently asked questions
Is HEIC to PNG lossless?
The PNG keeps exactly the picture your device decodes from the HEIC, and PNG adds no loss of its own. The phone compressed the HEIC when it took the photo, so detail lost then doesn't come back.
Why are the PNG files so large?
HEIC packs photos very tightly, while PNG keeps every pixel without any loss, so a photo can grow to several times its size. Choose JPG if size matters.
Does the PNG keep the date the photo was taken?
Yes, unless you turn it off. The date and camera details go into the PNG, and the location only if you ask for it.
