Split PDF
Split a PDF into several files by page ranges, every page or every few pages, or take out the pages you choose. In your browser, nothing uploaded.
Each range becomes its own PDF. "7-" runs to the end.
Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.
How to use
This tool splits a PDF into smaller PDFs, or takes out the pages you choose, in your browser, without uploading it.
- Add a PDF: drop it on the box or choose it. Its pages appear as thumbnails. If it asks for a password, type it; it's only used to open the file here.
- Choose how to split it:
- By ranges: type ranges such as 1-3, 4-6, 7-. Each range becomes its own PDF, and "7-" runs to the last page.
- One file per page: each page becomes its own PDF.
- Every few pages: choose how many pages go in each file, such as 2 for pairs.
- Chosen pages: click the pages to keep, or type them. They go into one PDF, in the order you type.
- Press Split PDF. Each new file is listed with its pages and size, to download one at a time, or all together with Download all (.zip).
The files are named after the PDF and their pages, such as report-pages-1-3.pdf. Pages keep their text, pictures, links and comments at full quality, and each file keeps the bookmarks for its pages. Form fields aren't kept, and a protected PDF's password and limits don't carry over.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. The PDF is read and split in your browser, and it never leaves your device. That matters for contracts, statements and IDs, which many PDF sites upload to their servers.
How do I take out just a few pages?
Choose Chosen pages, then click the pages or type them, such as 2, 5-7. They go into one new PDF in that order. The original file isn't changed.
Does splitting lower the quality?
No. Pages are copied as they are, with their text, fonts and pictures unchanged. Fonts and pictures that several pages share are copied into every new file that uses them, so the files together can be bigger than the original.
