WebP to JPG Converter

Convert WebP images to JPG in your browser, so they open in every app, email and older device. One or 50 at a time, and nothing is uploaded.

Convert to

Runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded.

How to use

This page converts WebP images, the kind many websites now serve, into JPG files that every program opens. It all happens in your browser.

  1. Drop the WebP files on the box, choose them, or paste a copied image with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac). You can add up to 50.
  2. JPG is selected for you under Convert to, so the conversion starts at once.
  3. Adjust Quality if needed. WebP and JPG lose detail in similar ways, so keeping it around 85 or higher avoids adding a second round of flaws.
  4. Some WebP images are see-through in places. Choose what fills those areas in the JPG with the colour picker, white unless you change it.
  5. Save each JPG with its Download button, or get them together with Download all (.zip).

A WebP picture saved from a website often refuses to open in an older photo viewer, an online form or a print shop's upload page. JPG works in all of them, which is why it's still the safe format for sharing.

Animated WebPs become a still JPG of their first frame, and the list says when that happens. Expect the JPG to be a bit larger than the WebP, as WebP packs pictures more tightly.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I open WebP images?

Current browsers and phones open WebP, but many older programs, upload forms and print services still don't. Converting to JPG gets around that.

Is the JPG the same quality as the WebP?

Very close at quality 85 or higher. Both formats compress, so converting adds a little loss on top. For the best result, use a high quality setting.

What happens to an animated WebP?

JPG can't hold animation, so the JPG is the first frame. The tool says so next to the file.
